FIFA 23 Road to the World Cup: Balck Friday promo, release date & more

The FIFA 23 Black Friday event will kick off this week in Ultimate Team, with some new World Cup-themed content expected to be released.

With the famous Black Friday sales starting on Friday, November 25, EA Sports is planning to launch a FIFA 23 Black Friday-themed event in Ultimate Team on the same day. The FUT Black Friday event has been a part of FIFA since FIFA 15, with EA typically releasing a variety of promo packs in the store, flash SBCs, and a 'Best Of' Team of the Week - a squad comprised of the best players to appear in TOTW since the release of FIFA 23.

FIFA 23 Road to the World Cup Release Date
The FIFA 23 Road to the World Cup will begin on Friday, November 25, 2022, as confirmed by an in-game loading screen.

There is no word on whether it will be just a one or two-week promotion, but given how much other content is expected to arrive during World Cup season, we'd bet on a single week.

What is FIFA 23 Road to the World Cup cards?
Road to the Knockouts, which gave players stat boosts based on how well their teams performed in the Group Stages of the Champions League, Europa League, and Europa Conference League, has already occurred in FIFA 23 this year.

Road to the World Cup cards will also most likely perform the same functions, arriving as live items with ratings that rise in proportion to a country's performance in the Qatar 2022 Group Stages.  This has yet to be confirmed.

FIFA 23 World Cup Icons
During the FIFA 23 Road to the World Cup/Black Friday event, World Cup Icons will also be added to FUT packs. Some of these brand-new cards have already been used as Swaps rewards, but the rest of the legends will be available when the promotion goes live.

In honor of their contributions to previous World Cups, World Cup Icons have ratings that are somewhere in the middle of their Mid and Prime versions, despite having the same Chemistry value as regular Icon items.
